Problems with focusing?
As new Mac user I’m reading a lot of stuff about it. And I’ve realized that apps helping you to focus on some subject are becoming more and more popular. Just to name two there are: Concentrate and Think. They have only one purpose to isolate apps you need to work with at the moment and let you concentrate on your work, so you’re not being distracted by incoming mails, IM messages and so on. I wonder if people really hit this level that they can do it by themselves. When I have a work to do I’m just doing it and have no problems with paying attention. Or maybe users just want to feel like some writer or artist with only typewriter or easel in front of them, completely targeted at the subject. Maybe, but still I find it weird. But maybe I’m weird, not buying this entire “go to Starbucks to write a blog post” thing. Possible.
Science Fiction in USA
I think somebody in US government has lost his mind. The new idea to improve the security in air traffic is to give every passenger Safety Bracelet. It would have built-in GPS (and also a chip with personal information about passenger) and some kind of teaser which would shock him with electricity when he would step out the line. I think it’s crazy and somebody who invented it should be prisoned. If you want to see how this bracelet looks like then here you go:

The original article about it is here “Want some torture with your peanuts?“. When I’ve read this it reminded me some old movie with Rutger Hauer. It was about prisoners in the futuristic jail which has no bars or walls. All prisoners had a special collars on their necks and when somebody tried to escape collar exploded. Maybe it would be next step. Movie was called “Wedlock” if somebody wants to watch it.
Women should not have driving license!
Today I was driving to work, I stopped before the crossway. Suddenly the car before mine started to driving backward. I’ve started hitting the horn, but the car hit mine. I’ve got out from my car and below is the conversation between me and other driver, the woman.
Me: How are you driving?!
Woman: I’m not driving, I’m standing still (I know that this is wrong in English).
M: So how you have hit my car while you’re standing?!
W: Did I caused any damage?
M: No luckily!
W: So what’s the matter?
M: That you don’t know how to drive you stupid %#$%#%#$%#!!!
I’m really pissed off! Stop the women from driving cars, it’s dangerous!
Adult man can’t buy a beer in USA
I’m 25 years old and currently I’m in USA, for a second time. I wanted to buy a pack of beer with my friend so we went to the liquor store. I knew that USA has strict rules about selling alcohol, so I’ve informed my friend to get his passport, I didn’t get mine. So, we got to the store, I’ve chosen Sam Adams Lager, friend of mine Sam Adams Octoberfest, but that’s not important. We came to the register and want to pay. Standard question about id, haha we’re prepared this time mister, I thought. But not, because seller wanted to see mine passport too. I had only driving license, I’ve explained. That’s not enough, said he:) OK, so I’m not taking my beers, but my friend want to buy some for him. No, he can’t. Why? Because he can give that beer to me, and I could drink it, and I’m not verified to be adult, 25 years old. So, no beer for tonight boys:)
That country is sometimes funny:)
McDonalds discovers credit card!
This year we’re celebrating 15 years of McDonalds in Poland. Because of that Mac decided to run credit card payment for Polish customers. I must explain that credit cards are in Poland for several years now. But Mac avoided this way of making payments very long. Most of other restaurants had such service years earlier, even KFC. And people in Poland used to talk that our local companies are not up to date, but you see… not only Polish:)
Real monsters
Today I’ve watched a movie Cujo, based on a novel of Stephen King. In this movie father told to son that there are no monsters in real world there are only in fairy tales, because he was afraid of monster in his closet. When I heard that, I got such thought that there are monsters in real world, but it’s not such easy to identify them like in fairy tale or movie. In movie, or book, we could see quite clear who is bad and who is good. In real world it’s different. I don’t know if the man, which I’m staying next to in the bus, isn’t rapist or murderer. Real problem with bad people is that you can’t see from someones face who he really is.
In my short life I was bitten to unconscious, threaten by the gun, and some other unpleasant things. And I must say that I wasn’t able to identify bad intentions in that people. It it was like in movie, I could avoid such situations, but it wasn’t.
What I want to tell is that real horror is taking place here, in our everyday life. Maybe this is the reason why we like to watch scary movie, to watch evil which is easy to identify. When watching movie you know what you should be scared of, and this gives you some sort of security which you don’t have in real world. Maybe I’m overreacting, but I don’t feel safe walking on the street, and I feel I’m not alone.
